Please pray for us ;-)

Heaven help us all! I was hoping for saxophone. My vote didn't count. Tee hee.

Iain is definitely in the early stages of playing. He can do ... uh ... loud.

Occasionally, Kev will answer the phone "House of chaos, Kevin speaking." Only too true now.

Hey Karen-
As you may recall, my eldest brother took the trumpet too. He ended up being a trumpet performance major at Western so he played A LOT. His frequent need to practise lead to my father building "the music room" - down, down in the basement, with extra insulation to reduce the volume.
I need to file this away in my brain somewhere and remember to tell our kids they are only allowed to play the tuba. (The kids who played tuba in my music class never had to take it home to practise because it was too big and wouldn’t fit on the bus!!) ;-) Either that, or buy Steve the “Home Depot” how-to book on sound-proofing a room and tell him he’s got a few years to prepare for the project. (Actually, now that I mention it, we could use a sound-proof room now! Our kids may be small, but they are loud!!)
Anyway, hang in there!!

You're right! The kids aren't allowed to take the baritone on the bus either.

He has actually figured out how to make quite a good sound out of it now, although I had to drive it to school Monday morning because the mouthpiece was stuck in and nothing we did would dislodge it.

We lived in a townhouse complex shortly after we got married, and our next door neighbours had built an incredibly cool soundproof room in the basement of their rental unit. The waiting list for their unit was LONG!

Once he figures out some notes, it will be okay. The hard part is ... he's a "quality time" love language kid, and he doesn't get that we hear him JUST fine from in his room with the door closed. It's just too loud in the same room :-(.
